The mother who evolved Sepsis Thanks to three botched plastic surgeries, her family was left terrified when she went under the knife again – this time to get rid of her baby boy.
Louisa Anderson Roy was “petrified” to book another plastic surgery after almost losing her life following three botched breast augmentations.
The 42-year-old mother of six first underwent surgery 20 years ago when she was offered a free job in Istanbul, Turkey, but she soon developed a small hole in her nipple, which developed into sepsis.
Luisa said she spent years with a nipple that looked like a “huge chunk” had been taken out of it, so she decided to undergo corrective surgery. London.
However, shortly after the operation, Luisa developed sepsis again, claiming to have had PIP implants inserted “upside down and back to front”.
PIP breast implants were withdrawn from the UK in 2010 after they were found to have been fraudulently manufactured using unapproved silicone gel, and were more susceptible to rupture than other breast implants.
The owner of the salon who lives BrightonWest Sussex, had her PIP implants removed and replaced by a private surgeon five years later – but was left fighting for her life again when she developed sepsis for a third time.
After having her implants removed, Louisa vowed never to subject herself to another plastic surgery procedure again.

The 42-year-old mother of six underwent surgery for the first time in 20 years when she was offered a free job in Istanbul, Türkiye.

Louisa said she spent years with a nipple that looked like a “huge chunk” had been taken out, so she decided to undergo corrective surgery in London.
But after giving birth to her sixth child, the mother felt extremely insecure about her weight and began looking for tummy tuck operations in Türkiye, much to the horror of her concerned family.
Louisa had the procedure in August and now feels more confident than ever with her new and improved waistline.
“I was thinking about having stomach surgery, but I couldn’t afford to have it done here,” Louisa said.
“I thought I was going to have gastric bypass surgery but because of what happened with the breast implants, everyone was up in arms saying ‘You can’t do that.’
“They said your date was too risky.” But I was literally miserable about my weight and I had to do something. Everyone was against it.
“I’m not unhappy about being a bigger person, I hated this huge stomach so my friend helped me put me in touch with a surgeon in Türkiye.
“I was obviously very nervous, but not about the whole thing in Turkey, I had terrible experiences in the UK as well. I was scared going back there.”

“I was always a big person but I felt motivated to lose weight after that surgery.”
Over the next few months, the mum felt inspired to lose even more weight, dropping from a size 20 to a size 12 after surgery.
“It was unbelievable,” Louisa said. It was the only place I never got infected from. Since then I’ve lost four stone, and without bariatric surgery.
“I’ve always been a big person but I felt motivated to lose weight after that surgery.
“I spent all this money and put my life on the line again. I took it seriously and didn’t want to ruin the hard work. I’m very happy with the results. It’s truly life-changing.”
Louisa was nervous about having plastic surgery again after experiencing complications following her first breast augmentation at the age of 21 when she lost “a quarter of her nipple”.
“When I was 21, I was offered a free breast augmentation in Istanbul,” Luisa said. “My manager at the time set up a company to transport people to Turkey, which was not a big deal at the time.
“So I went there, had the implant, and then 10 days later I had a little hole in my nipple.
Day by day it got bigger and bigger and sepsis broke out. I lost a quarter of my nipple. The infection had eaten her all up. It was horrible.

“There are a lot of botched surgeries happening in the UK too. Of course you have to be careful when going to Türkiye as well,” she warned.

Now, the mother wants to raise awareness of the risks involved with operations at home and abroad
“I spent three or four years with a nipple that looked like a hunk had been taken out of it.”
Louisa thought she was in safe hands for corrective surgery in the UK, but she developed sepsis again with her second surgery, which cost £15,000.
After these implants ruptured, Louisa paid an additional £12,000 at a private clinic in the UK, but almost died when the infection broke out.
“Another infection broke out and I almost died,” Louisa said. “I was gushing with pus. There were buckets and buckets full of hot, warm pus that seeped into my whole body.
“I was in septic shock within 10 days (of the surgery) and was rushed to hospital where the implants had to be taken out by the NHS.”
“It was the third time I had sepsis and I was really fighting for my life. It was so bad. My temperature was so high, I was so sick.
Despite her family’s concerns, Louisa chose to go under the knife again after struggling with her baby weight earlier this year – gaining five stone during the traumatic pregnancy.
Now, the mother wants to raise awareness of the risks involved with operations at home and abroad.
“It’s important to raise awareness of the risks of surgery abroad, but I was really shocked by my experience with surgery here in the UK too,” Louisa said.
