Camlet told the Miami Herald he “didn’t do anything illegal” and denied any sexual relations with underage girls. He claimed that the “two young ladies” had “developed a plan to entrap a rich man.”

A Miami Herald investigation accuses the office of Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle of bungling the case despite ramping up anti-human trafficking efforts.

Gina told police she met the doctor on Tinder, and he offered her $600 to have sex with him. She then asked her 16-year-old friend Tara to meet her at his apartment.

Camlett allegedly offered Gina “pure Colombian cocaine,” according to police records that say Camlett had “every milligram of (OxyContin) in every color” in his home. Gina noted that she had “never seen so much drugs, money and weapons in my life.”

Gina told police they had unprotected sex before he gave her the promised money and more cocaine. When the girls talked to Camlet about living with him, the police knocked on the door after tracking Gina’s phone when her mother reported her missing.

Camlet was seen on police camera telling police “I was trying to help them… I’m trying to be the hero here,” insisting the girls showed him ID cards indicating they were 18 and asked him for help.

‘Do you know Sgt. Mottola, who just retired? Camlett asked an officer at one point, referring to former Sergeant Jeffrey Mottola. ‘He’s a good friend of mine. If you call him, he’ll tell you I’m a good guy.

The girls were then taken out of the apartment in handcuffs before being picked up by their parents. Kamlet was not arrested or interrogated again. Tara’s mother told the Herald that no one ever followed up on the case.

Jenna and Camlet allegedly continued to talk through a secure app on their phones over the following weeks. In one letter, the doctor allegedly told Jenna, “They could own the world if she stayed off the drugs and they had the chemistry.”

In July 2022, Camlet allegedly picked her up and took her to his apartment, where he showed her pornographic material and suggested she get into the porn industry. The two had sex and Camlet paid Gina $400, $200 less than he promised because, Gina said, he was angry because she wouldn’t let him perform oral sex on her.

Jenna was last seen alive on June 4, 2023, four days before her body was found.

The Herald reports that Canlet’s ankle monitor sent an alert to the Department of Corrections on June 6. Camelt was contacted and said he was home, but officers were still sent to his home “to troubleshoot,” records say.

The coroner ruled Gina’s cause of death “undetermined,” and Miami police have not opened an investigation into Gina’s death.

Her stepfather claimed that she feared for her life before she was found dead.

“She said: ‘Dad, they’re going to kill me,'” the stepfather told the Herald. “I told her to stop going out and stay at home but she wouldn’t listen.”

Jenna’s mother claims the medical examiner told her she had drugs (in her system) that he had never seen before and that this matter is under investigation.

The autopsy report shows that Jenna had drugs such as fentanyl and cocaine in her system when she died. However, her cause of death was not listed as overdose or drowning.

Despite a series of previous photos in 2008 and 2009, the Herald was unable to find any records of Camlett's previous arrests.

Camlett, himself a recovering heroin addict, promoted the use of the drug to treat addiction and ran a concierge-based health practice that catered to Miami’s most powerful and affluent.

He was paid more than $10,000 a year for services such as administering ketamine. Many of his clients paid in cash because they “didn’t want any paper trail,” according to court documents.

“The criminal case against Jeffrey Kamlet was severely affected by the death of one victim, the concentration of human trafficking charges, and the unwillingness of the second victim to continue her participation in the criminal court proceedings,” the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office said. .

“The lack of testimony from the victims severely impaired prosecutors’ ability to prove all charges beyond a reasonable doubt. The victim’s next of kin agreed to the petition that was submitted to the court, stating that such an action would bring a sense of closure to the victim and her family.

Last July, Camlett was federally charged with illegally selling drugs, including ibogaine, oxycodone, morphine and ketamine. He was arrested and released on $100,000 bail.
